DOOR TO DOOR
This project explores the idea of portraying an individual through their environment rather than their physical features. By knocking on doors and asking for volunteers, I have captured a series of portraits that are as much about the spaces and objects that surround the sitters as they are about the sitters themselves.
While the initial goal was to simply create a unique and unconventional approach to portraiture, the project has evolved to reflect on the individuals who have participated. Notably, the majority of volunteers were women and there was a notable lack of participation from affluent areas. This has raised important questions about power dynamics and vulnerability that I hope to continue exploring in future iterations of the project.
