HOLY SMOKES

With this project, I set out to explore the similarities between smoking and religion, two seemingly disparate concepts that share more in common than one might initially think.

Through a series of carefully cultivated images, I've sought to create a visual tension that highlights the similarities between these two worlds. By drawing on the iconography of each, I've created a series of images that compare and contrast different aspects of smoking and religion, from the advertising and lifestyle to the underlying causes of death and the sense of subscription that comes with each.

As this project continues to evolve, I'm excited to see where it will take me and what new connections and meanings will emerge. Through this exploration of visual metaphor and symbolism, I hope to challenge viewers to question their own assumptions and find new ways of understanding the world around them.
