AFRICATS

In Essaouira, Morocco, I found inspiration in the town’s resilient stray cats. “Africats” is a documentary photography project that reveals Morocco’s spirit through these often-overlooked creatures, capturing their grace against the town’s vibrant textures. Unexpectedly, on September 8, 2023, an earthquake struck Marrakech, underscoring life’s unpredictability. These images offer a glimpse of Morocco through its feline inhabitants just days before the disaster, reminding us of the country’s strength in adversity. “Africats” invites you to see Morocco’s beauty in the everyday and its resilience in the face of uncertainty, honoring the enduring spirit of this remarkable place.
